About MetaGPT

MetaGPT is an open source multi-agent framework for software development and natural language programming. It assigns roles such as product manager, architect, project manager, and engineer to language models that work together using defined procedures.

From a one-line requirement it can output user stories, requirements, data structures, APIs, and documents, and create a repository in ./workspace. It can be used from the command line or as a Python library, and includes a Data Interpreter for code and data analysis. Use requires Python 3.9 to below 3.12, Node and pnpm, and configuration with an LLM API key.

  • Generate user stories, requirements, APIs, and documents from one-line input
  • Create project repository in ./workspace from CLI prompt
  • Use as Python library to generate repository structure
  • Run Data Interpreter for data analysis and plotting tasks
  • Configure LLM provider, model, and API key in config file
Best for: Developers and researchers building multi-agent software or data workflows in Python.
