IP Intelligence
IP Intelligence detects proxies and VPN connections through an API intended to help prevent fraud.

About IP Intelligence
IP Intelligence is a web-based service that estimates how likely an IP address is to be a proxy, VPN, hosting provider, or otherwise bad IP. It is intended to help websites and online services reduce fraud, such as fraud on e-commerce sites and payment gateways. The service returns a probability value from 0 to 1 instead of a simple yes or no. A value of 1 means the IP is explicitly listed as a web host, VPN, or TOR node on its dynamic lists. Other values are inferred using machine learning and probability techniques.
Users query the service by HTTP GET request with an IP address, and the homepage says no API key is required. Queries must include a valid contact email, and API use is limited to 500 queries per day and 15 per minute unless custom packages are arranged. The homepage notes that the service assumes lookups are made at the application level, since blocking at lower network levels can disrupt services such as DNS. IPv4 is fully supported, while IPv6 support is partial. The operator states that results may sometimes be incorrect and asks users to report errors.
Key features
- Probability score from 0 to 1 for proxy, VPN, hosting, or bad IP likelihood
- Score of 1 marks IPs listed as web hosts, VPNs, or TOR nodes
- Optional flags parameter, such as flags=m for proxy and VPN detection only
- Optional residential proxy detection through the flags=r parameter
- HTTP GET lookup by IP; full IPv4 support, partial IPv6 support
- Web interface for checking individual IP addresses
- Returns a graded probability rather than only a yes or no result
- The homepage invites comparison of its results with other proxy detection services
- A web interface is available for checking individual IP addresses
- API use is limited to 500 queries per day and 15 queries per minute, with custom packages available on request
