About Localforge

Localforge is a desktop GUI for running autonomous coding agents on local code. It supports Codex, Claude and other LLMs, with provider switching, prompt templates, and agents that edit files, run tests and use the shell inside the repository.

It includes tabs, multi-project support, visual diffs and a task tracker with an Expert Mode for review. Use with hosted models requires the user's own API keys and payment to that provider, so data handling depends on the model chosen.

Key features

  • Run autonomous agents on local codebase via desktop GUI
  • Switch between LLM providers including local models
  • Edit files, run tests and shell commands in repo
  • Tabs, multi-project support and visual diffs
  • Task tracker showing steps with Expert Mode review
  • Save and reuse prompt templates
Best for: Developers who want to run Codex- or Claude-compatible coding agents on their own machines.

  • Includes tabs, multi-project view, visual diffs and step-by-step task tracker
