About Pi

Pi is an open-source AI agent toolkit hosted on GitHub at earendil-works/pi. It provides a unified multi-provider LLM API, agent loop, terminal UI, and coding agent CLI, built to be adapted to user workflows rather than requiring adjustment to fixed tooling. It supports interactive use, automation via print or JSON mode, RPC control, and app development via a TypeScript SDK, and can be extended with custom extensions, skills, prompt templates and themes shareable via npm or git. It does not include built-in sub-agents or plan mode, and has no native permission system for restricting filesystem, process, network, or credential access, so users seeking stronger access boundaries need to containerize or sandbox the tool. It requires Node.js 22.19 or newer to run.
