About Mailgw
Mailgw is a free anti-spam email service. After creating and confirming a free account, a user can generate a separate email address for each company or purchase, such as a name made from the account name and the company's domain at mailgw.com. Mail sent to each address forwards to the user's current email account. If one address starts receiving spam, the user can disable it with a click, which shows which company may have shared or sold the address.
The operator states that the service has been free since October 2000 but has hosting and other operating costs, and that it may later offer free and "pro" services, with a small yearly fee for the pro tier. The service prohibits use as an anonymous mail shield for spammers, stalkers, or other inappropriate behavior, and states that accounts will be disabled immediately if this occurs. The operator says it will not sell its mailing list or account information and will not sell the service to another provider. The operator also states it will do what it can to keep stored email addresses away from authorities and businesses, but this is a stated intention, not a guarantee.
