About National Nuclear Data Center

The National Nuclear Data Center provides nuclear structure, decay, reaction, and bibliography databases. Structure and decay resources include evaluated data for 3,171 nuclides, decay data for over 2,100 nuclei for medical dose calculations, an interactive chart of nuclides with a level plotting tool, and unevaluated experimental data from recent articles.

Reaction resources include experimental data from more than 19,047 experiments and evaluated data for 393 nuclides for neutrons up to 20 MeV and partly up to 150 MeV, with cross sections, spectra, and comparison plots. Bibliography resources index references to 275,000 reactions and more than 200,000 articles; not all evaluated quantities are available for all materials.

Key features

  • Search evaluated structure and decay data for 3,171 nuclides
  • Retrieve decay data for over 2,100 nuclei for dose calculations
  • Use interactive chart of nuclides and level plotting tool
  • Retrieve experimental reaction data from over 19,047 experiments
  • Compare evaluated cross sections with experimental data plots
  • Search 275,000 reaction references from 55,000 works
Best for: Researchers and practitioners who use nuclear structure, decay, reaction, and radiation dose data benefit most.
Good for
  • Combines evaluated, experimental, and bibliographic nuclear data in one place
  • Supports search by nuclide, target, beam, reaction, energy, and publication
  • Provides tables, drawings, comparison plots, and interactive chart tools
Watch out for
  • Not all evaluated quantities are available for all materials
  • Evaluated reaction coverage is limited to neutrons up to 20 MeV, partly to 150 MeV
  • XUNDL data are experimental and unevaluated, not recommended values
