About Nebula

Nebula is an open source overlay networking tool for building a peer-to-peer software-defined network. It combines encryption, tunneling, certificates and security groups, with a focus on performance, simplicity and security. It is mutually authenticated and based on the Noise Protocol Framework, using certificates to assert a node's IP address, name and group membership.

You can use it to connect computers anywhere in the world, from a small number of machines to tens of thousands. It runs on Linux, macOS, Windows and FreeBSD on desktop and server, with source code available for iOS and Android. It can be installed through distribution packages for Arch, Fedora, Debian and Alpine Linux, through Homebrew for macOS, and as a Docker image.

It suits users who are comfortable setting up networking software from a code repository. Further documentation and a community Slack group are linked from the repository for setup and use.
