About No Vnc

noVNC is a VNC client JavaScript library and an application built on top of that library. It runs in modern browsers, including mobile browsers on iOS and Android, and handles desktop scaling, clipping and resizing, local cursor rendering, clipboard copy and paste with Unicode support, touch gestures for mouse actions, and back and forward mouse buttons.

It follows the standard VNC protocol but requires WebSockets support on the server. Servers without WebSockets support need a WebSockets-to-TCP proxy such as websockify. Known minimum browser versions are Chrome 89, Firefox 89, Safari 15, Opera 75 and Edge 89.

No Vnc FAQ

What if my VNC server does not support WebSockets?
Use a WebSockets-to-TCP proxy. noVNC has a sister project, websockify, that provides one.
How do I start a connection to a local VNC server?
Run ./utils/novnc_proxy --vnc localhost:5901, open the URL it outputs in a browser, select Connect, and enter the VNC password if one is configured.
