About NuPIC

NuPIC is an open-source machine intelligence platform that implements Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM), described as a computational theory of the neocortex. Its core consists of time-based continuous learning algorithms that store and recall spatial and temporal patterns, and the repository states it is suited to anomaly detection and prediction of streaming data sources.

The repository (numenta/nupic-legacy) holds legacy HTM code and has been in maintenance mode since September 2023, with plans limited to minor releases for critical bugs and features supporting ongoing research. Installation requires Python 2.7 and a C++11 compiler; prebuilt binaries are listed for Linux x86 64-bit, OS X 10.9 and 10.10, and Windows 64-bit. Usage guides, quick starts and API documentation are available at nupic.docs.numenta.org.
