Ponytail
Ponytail guides AI coding agents to write the least code needed, favoring standard libraries and native tools.

About Ponytail
Ponytail is a plugin for AI coding agents that directs the agent to check existing code, standard libraries, platform features and installed dependencies before writing new code, and to add a small test when logic involves branches, loops, parsing, money or security. It provides /ponytail-review for changes and /ponytail-audit for whole repositories, which examine touched code for bugs, security issues, load, missing tests, speed and removable code, and end replies with what was skipped or not checked.
It lists support for Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, Gemini, Cursor, OpenCode, pi and others, with install commands for several CLIs and an INSTALL.md for the rest. The stated install sources are DietrichGebert/ponytail and @dietrichgebert/ponytail on npm.
