About PR-Agent

PR-Agent is an open-source, AI-powered code review agent for pull requests and code changes. It is a community-maintained legacy project of Qodo and is separate from Qodo's primary AI code review product. Its commands, /review, /improve, and /ask, each make a single LLM call, which the project describes as taking about 30 seconds at low cost.

PR-Agent can run as a CLI, a GitHub Action, a Docker image, or a self-hosted webhook. It supports GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, and Gitea. The setup examples configure a model API key through environment variables. Limits: the /help_docs command has been disabled since v0.36.1 pending a fix for a credential-exposure issue. Docker images for releases 0.34.2 and later are published under pragent/pr-agent, and the older codiumai/pr-agent namespace receives no new images. Pricing is not stated. Data handling is covered in a separate Data Privacy section, so review it before use.

Key features

  • Commands /review, /improve, and /ask for pull request review tasks
  • PR compression strategy for both small and large pull requests
  • JSON-based prompts customizable through configuration files
  • Supports GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, and Gitea
  • Runs as a CLI, GitHub Action, Docker image, or webhook
  • Works with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral, and LiteLLM-reachable models
Best for: Development teams that want a self-hosted, open-source pull request reviewer and are willing to supply their own model API keys.
Good for
  • Open source, with the project listing full control over data and infrastructure as a benefit
  • Supports several Git providers and a wide range of AI models

Watch out for
  • The /help_docs command is disabled since v0.36.1 pending a fix for a credential-exposure issue
