About PredictionBuilder

PredictionBuilder is a PHP library for machine learning that builds predictions using linear regression. A caller supplies a set of x and y data pairs and an x value. The library fits a linear model to the data and returns the predicted y value for that x.

The returned result also includes the fitted model equation as a string, the correlation coefficient for the data, and the x and y values. The library is installed with Composer and is released under the MIT License. The source requires PHP 5.4 or higher. Its documented scope is linear regression only.

Key features

  • Fits a linear regression model to a set of x and y data pairs
  • Predicts the expected y value for a given x value
  • Returns the fitted linear model equation as a string
  • Returns the correlation coefficient for the supplied data
  • Installable as a Composer package in PHP projects
  • Released under the MIT License
Best for: PHP developers who need simple linear regression predictions inside an application and want an MIT-licensed library they can install with Composer.
Good for
  • Open source and released under the MIT License
  • Installable with Composer
  • Returns the model equation and correlation coefficient alongside the prediction
Watch out for
  • Requires PHP 5.4 or higher
  • Documented scope is linear regression only

PredictionBuilder FAQ

How do I install PredictionBuilder?
Add "denissimon/prediction-builder": "*" to the require section of your project's composer.json, then run php composer.phar install or composer install.
What does the build() method return?
The returned object has the properties ln_model (the fitted linear equation as a string), cor (the correlation coefficient), x (the given x value), and y (the predicted y value).
Which PHP version is required?
The project requires PHP 5.4 or higher, because it uses traits and short array syntax.
