About seo-audit-skill

seo-audit-skill is an open-source set of reusable agent skills for auditing a single web page for SEO. You give an agent a URL, and it produces a structured HTML report with findings. The skills are installed with npx skills add JeffLi1993/seo-audit-skill and are described as working with Claude Code, Cursor, and any agent runtime that supports SKILL.md.

The tool uses two layers. Python scripts run deterministic checks such as HTTP status, XML parsing, and string matching. The language model handles judgment-based review, such as keyword intent, content quality, and page type. The basic skill, seo-audit, covers a set of site-level and page-level checks. The full skill, seo-audit-full, adds PageSpeed, sitemap inventory, Search Console crawl status, and additional checks. Full audits need a Google PageSpeed Insights API key, and without one the full audit stops and asks for a key.

Do I need an API key to use this?
The basic audit does not require one. The full audit's PageSpeed checks require a Google PageSpeed Insights API key, which can be set with PAGESPEED_API_KEY or GOOGLE_PAGESPEED_API_KEY, or passed with --api-key.
Where are the reports saved?
A basic audit is saved to reports/-audit.html. A full audit is saved to reports/-full-audit.html.
