About Snapp

Snapp is presented as a Svelte exercise to build a URL shortener. The repository describes a self-hosted URL shortening platform with a built-in dashboard, multi-domain workspaces, team permissions, analytics, and a REST API.

Key features

  • Optional custom shortcode, plus notes, tags, teams, expiration, hit limits, and UTM templates
  • Multi-domain in a single deployment, each domain mapping to an organization/workspace
  • Authentication and access control via Better-Auth organizations, roles, and API keys
  • Teams inside an organization with per-team create, read, update, delete policy enforcement
  • Metrics on redirect: browser, device, OS, language, referrer, geo, UTMs, internal vs external
  • Integrations with Umami and VirusTotal API; Scalar API reference UI
Best for: Self-hosters and teams that want to run their own multi-domain URL shortener with dashboards, analytics, and access control.

Snapp FAQ

What are the installation requirements?
A Postgres database is required. Docker is recommended, and the repository provides a Docker Compose example.
How does Snapp support multiple domains?
Configure hosts in config/settings.yaml. Each host origin maps to an organization id via slugify(origin), and the current host resolves the active organization.
Does Snapp store IP addresses for analytics?
Metrics may include geo city, region, or country derived from IP, but the source states IPs are not saved. Metrics are collected on successful redirects when not blocked by secret checks.
