About SongFinder

SongFinder identifies songs from uploaded audio or video files or live microphone recordings. It uses acoustic fingerprinting to compare a clip against a music catalog and returns the song title, artist, and album when a match is found. Listed upload types are MP3, WAV, FLAC, MP4, M4A, and OGG, and the recording interface uses 10-second clips with start-time selection and tools for equalization, vocal separation, normalization, and tempo and pitch adjustment.

Coverage is not exhaustive: very recent releases, hyperlocal music, and certain regional catalogues may not return a result. Processing changes the submitted audio, so the source notes that unedited clips sometimes match better, tool order changes the output, and choruses or distinct melodic sections match more reliably than intros, buildups, or fade-outs.

Key features

  • Upload audio or video files for song identification
  • Record live microphone audio for identification
  • Separate vocals from instruments to reduce interference
  • Adjust equalizer to reduce hiss, rumble, or muffled sound
  • Normalize volume for quiet or low-level recordings
  • Reverse tempo changes and pitch shifts in edited audio
Best for: People who need to identify songs from live recordings, video files, or noisy, altered, or degraded clips.
Good for
  • No account required for browser-based upload or recording
  • Lists support for MP3, WAV, FLAC, MP4, M4A, and OGG files
  • Provides ordered tool workflows for live, voiceover, old, and sped-up audio
Watch out for
  • Very recent releases, hyperlocal music, and some regional catalogues may have no match
  • Stacking audio adjustments without a clear reason can reduce match accuracy
  • Intros, buildups, or fade-outs can return no result or a wrong match
