About Tab Wrangler

Tab Wrangler is an open source extension for Chrome and Firefox that automatically closes tabs not visited for a set period, defaulting to 1 hour. Every automatically closed tab is saved to the Tab Corral, a searchable list that can be filtered by title or URL and reopened.

It includes controls such as locking individual tabs or entire windows, auto-locking specified addresses or domains, protection for audio and grouped tabs, and pause and resume. Full history and scroll-position restore is limited to the most recent 25 closed tabs by the browser, and pinned and active tabs are never auto-closed.

  • Locks individual tabs or entire windows against auto-closing

  • Optionally protects tabs playing audio or in tab groups
  • Shows countdown timer per open tab, reset on focus
