About AFWall+
AFWall+ is an open-source firewall application for rooted Android devices, built on Linux iptables. It intercepts network requests at the kernel level and applies rules that allow or block connections per app and per network type, including WiFi, mobile data, VPN, tethering, LAN and Tor. Rules can be organized into profiles, exported or imported for backup and sharing, and blocked attempts appear in connection logs with notifications.

Does AFWall+ require root access?
Yes. Root is required, with Magisk, LineageOS built-in su, SuperSU or KingRoot listed as supported methods. Without root the app has no functionality.
Which Android versions does AFWall+ support?
Android 5.0 (API 21) through Android 14 and later are actively maintained. Legacy builds exist for Android 4.x (version 2.9.9) and Android 2.x (version 1.3.4.1).
Can AFWall+ scan for malware or block ads?
No. It is not an antivirus and does not scan files, and it is not an ad blocker, since it blocks network access rather than ads inside connections it allows.
