Since 2004 it has completed 11 survey rounds in 35 countries, with more than 433,000 interviews, using probability-based national samples and a common core questionnaire. Fieldwork is carried out by local survey firms monitored through the FALCON quality-control system.

Users can download free public data files, visualize results in the Data Playground without coding, or analyze data with the official lapop R package. Country-specific reports and datasets by country and year are available, plus a pre-2004 archive of 82 surveys from 17 countries dating to 1975.
