About arch-delugevpn

arch-delugevpn is a Docker build script that packages the Deluge BitTorrent client with Privoxy, microsocks, OpenVPN and WireGuard on an Arch Linux base image. The Deluge daemon can run on headless machines, and its interfaces (GTK+, web and console) can connect remotely.

The image is configured mainly through environment variables passed to docker run. The source states that OpenVPN and WireGuard are included to support a secure and private connection and that iptables is used to prevent IP leakage when the tunnel is down. These are the project's stated aims, not guarantees. The image does not include a VPN provider's OpenVPN configuration files or certificates, which the user must obtain from the provider. The usage examples also show default credentials for the Deluge web interface and the SOCKS proxy, which the user must manage.

Key features

  • Choice of OpenVPN or WireGuard as the VPN client via VPN_CLIENT
  • iptables rules intended to prevent IP leakage when the tunnel is down
  • Privoxy proxy on port 8118 for pointing other applications at the container
  • microsocks SOCKS proxy on port 9118 with configurable username and password
  • Deluge daemon that can run headless with remote GTK+, web or console clients
  • Preset options for PIA, AirVPN and ProtonVPN, or a custom provider setup
Best for: Linux users who want to run the Deluge BitTorrent client in a Docker container routed through a VPN provider, and who are comfortable supplying their own VPN configuration.
Good for
  • Open source project with a published license file
  • Configuration through documented environment variables and volume mounts
  • Deluge daemon can run on headless machines and be controlled remotely
Watch out for
  • The image does not include the provider's OpenVPN configuration files or certificates
  • Requires the NET_ADMIN container capability as shown in the usage example
  • Usage examples show default credentials for the Deluge web interface and SOCKS proxy
