About ComfyUI-Video-Stabilizer

ComfyUI Video Stabilizer is an open-source custom node package for ComfyUI, a node-based interface for building image and video workflows. It stabilizes shaky video, restores camera motion removed from a stabilized clip, and adds generated handheld-style shake to static footage. Stabilization is done with either a lightweight feature-tracking node or a more accurate dense optical flow node, and the package can be installed through ComfyUI Manager.

Stabilizing footage generally exposes areas at the frame edges that cropping would normally hide, which reduces the field of view. The package can output those exposed areas as a mask so that a video generation AI can outpaint them. The repository includes example workflows for this use. Pricing is unknown.

Key features

  • Stabilizes camera shake using feature tracking or dense optical flow
  • Three framing modes: crop, crop and pad, and expand
  • Adjustable strength, smoothing, and camera lock settings for stabilization
  • Records removed camera motion so it can be reapplied to other footage
  • Generates deterministic artificial shake with a seed value
  • Outputs exposed edge areas as a mask for outpainting with video generation AI
Best for: ComfyUI users who want to stabilize footage, restore camera motion after editing, or add handheld-style motion to static video.
Good for
  • Open source under the MIT license
  • Offers a lightweight method and a more accurate method for different needs
  • Can reproduce recorded camera motion on edited or regenerated footage
Watch out for
  • The optical flow method is heavier and slower than the feature-tracking method
  • Stabilization generally exposes edge areas that cost field of view when cropped
  • Crop-style framing modes narrow the field of view to hide exposed areas
