About Moviepy

MoviePy is a Python library for video editing, including cuts, concatenations, title insertions, compositing, video processing and creation of custom effects. It reads and writes common audio and video formats including GIF, runs on Windows/Mac/Linux with Python 3.9+, and installs with pip install moviepy.

It converts video frames, images and sounds into numpy arrays for pixel-level access, supports combining clips side by side or overlaid with transparency, and encodes results to mp4, webm, gif and other formats. Version 2.0 introduced breaking changes and version 1 is no longer maintained, and processing is slower than using ffmpeg directly due to data import and export operations.
