About DataHub

DataHub (datacenterhub.org) is a historical repository for earthquake engineering data and digital infrastructure associated with the Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES). It was established at Purdue University in 2014 to preserve data and digital infrastructure that remained after the National Science Foundation terminated NEES, and it was funded by the NSF until 2021 through two grants; in the second grant it was associated with the acronym DEEDS.

Key features

  • Historical repository of earthquake engineering data files once housed at datacenterhub
  • Lists legacy databases uploaded to NEESHub using DataSTORE
  • Includes other NEES and Post-NEES databases
  • Maintained by University of Canterbury civil and environmental engineering department
  • Established at Purdue University in 2014 after NEES termination
  • NSF-funded until 2021 through two grants; second linked to DEEDS
Best for: Researchers, engineers and historians seeking historical earthquake engineering data and NEES-related database collections.
Good for
  • Preserves file collections and digital infrastructure from the terminated NEES program
  • Provides access to legacy and Post-NEES database collections
  • Documents the site's institutional and funding history
Watch out for
  • Serves as a historical repository without the interactive tools available on the earlier datacenterhub site
  • NSF funding ended in 2021

datacenterhub.org was established at Purdue University in 2014 to preserve data and digital infrastructure that were available after the Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) was terminated by the National Science Foundation.
Who maintains datacenterhub now?
The site is made possible by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
Are the interactive tools from the earlier site still available?
No. The site serves as a historical repository of collections of files once housed at datacenterhub, without the interactive tools that were available on that site.
