This GitHub gist provides an AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution GLSL shader for use with mpv.

About FSR
This GitHub Gist provides FSR.glsl, a port of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution v1.0.2 for use as a shader with mpv. It hooks the LUMA plane for EASU upscaling and includes user-editable options for PQ gamma, deringing, and performance trade-offs.
Upscaling is limited to 4x, such as 1080p to 2160p or 720p to 1440p; any additional scaling is handled by mpv's scalers.
Key features
- Upscales video in mpv using FidelityFX Super Resolution v1.0.2
- Hooks LUMA plane directly instead of deriving luma from RGB
- Limits upscaling to 4x; further scaling uses mpv scalers
- Works with pre-OpenGL 4.0 renderers
- Offers toggles for PQ gamma, deringing, and EASU shortcuts
- Compatible with pre-OpenGL 4.0 renderers
- Operates directly on LUMA plane to reduce texture lookups
- Includes optional settings to trade quality for performance
- Maximum upscale is 4x; further scaling uses mpv scalers
- PQ setting must be set to the same value for both passes
- Transparency preservation mechanism was removed
