About GoDoxy

GoDoxy is a reverse proxy and container orchestrator aimed at self-hosters. It discovers Docker and Podman containers, reads their names, labels and port configuration, and creates routes automatically, reloading when containers or configuration change. Routes can also be defined with Docker labels or in route files. A WebUI covers routes, configuration, containers, logs, metrics and uptime.

Beyond HTTP reverse proxying, GoDoxy supports TCP/UDP port forwarding, OpenID Connect SSO, ForwardAuth integration, HTTP middlewares, custom error pages and access control by IP/CIDR; country and timezone rules require a MaxMind account. Idle sleep stops and wakes Docker containers, or Proxmox LXC containers, based on traffic, and Proxmox integration binds routes to nodes or LXC containers and manages LXC lifecycle from the WebUI. It runs on Linux amd64 and arm64 and is designed to run in host network mode.

Key features

  • Discovers Docker and Podman containers and routes them automatically from names, labels and ports
  • Manages routes, config, containers, logs, metrics and uptime in a WebUI
  • Hot-reloads configuration and container state changes
  • HTTP reverse proxy plus TCP/UDP port forwarding
  • OpenID Connect SSO, ForwardAuth integration, HTTP middlewares and custom error pages
  • Idle sleep stops and wakes Docker containers based on traffic
Best for: Self-hosters running Docker or Podman containers on Linux who want routes created automatically and managed from a web interface.
Good for
  • Automatic route creation from container labels and port configuration
  • WebUI covers routes, configuration, containers, logs, metrics and uptime
  • Idle sleep and Proxmox integration let it stop and wake containers based on traffic
Watch out for
  • Designed to run in host network mode and requires wildcard DNS records pointing to the host
  • Country and timezone access rules require a MaxMind account
  • Listed platform support is Linux amd64 and arm64

GoDoxy FAQ

Do I need wildcard DNS records?
Yes. The setup instructions say to configure wildcard DNS records, for example an A record such as *.domain.com pointing to the machine running GoDoxy, plus an AAAA record if IPv6 is used.
Can GoDoxy run outside host network mode?
The documentation states GoDoxy is designed to run in host network mode and says not to change it. Listening ports are changed by modifying the .env file instead.
How is a container's subdomain chosen?
GoDoxy uses the label proxy.aliases for the subdomain; if it is unset, it defaults to the container_name field in Docker Compose.
