About Jumpcut

Jumpcut is a clipboard manager for macOS. It records text that the user cuts or copies and keeps it in a stack. Users can retrieve earlier clippings from the Jumpcut menu or through a keyboard-driven pop-up bezel that opens with a global hotkey. When a clipping is selected, Jumpcut places it on the pasteboard and tries to paste it into the active application by simulating Command-V. This requires macOS Accessibility permission. If that permission is not granted, or the related preference is unchecked, the clipping is still placed on the pasteboard for manual pasting.

The project is free and open source under the MIT License. The homepage describes it as a hobbyist project with infrequent releases, roughly one or two a year. The most recent version listed is 0.84, released in December 2023. Current versions support macOS 10.12 (Sierra) and later. Users on older Macs can use version 0.63, which the homepage says supports OS X 10.3.9 Panther. The homepage also reports that some users upgrading from 0.63 had problems with the Accessibility settings needed for pasting.

Jumpcut FAQ

Which versions of macOS does Jumpcut support?
The current version supports macOS 10.12 (Sierra) and later. Users on older Macintosh computers may use version 0.63, which the homepage says supports OS X 10.3.9 Panther.
Why is Jumpcut not pasting the selected clipping?
Jumpcut needs access to type into other programs. If that access is not given, or the 'Clipping selection pastes' preference is unchecked, the clipping is still placed on the pasteboard and can be pasted manually. The homepage says Accessibility access can be added in the Security & Privacy settings.
How can I keep the clipboard bezel open until I choose a clipping?
Enable the sticky bezel preference. When it is on, you must press Return to select a clipping or Escape to dismiss the bezel.
