About Macfuse

macFUSE is a software package for macOS that lets non-privileged users create file systems without writing kernel code. It runs file system code in user space while a kernel extension provides a bridge to kernel interfaces.

It provides libfuse.dylib, a superset of the standard Unix FUSE API, and macFUSE.framework, an Objective-C wrapper for the libfuse C API. The latest version supports macOS 12 to macOS 27. File systems built with it run as regular applications. This repository contains source code for libfuse.dylib and macFUSE.framework; other components including the kernel extension are closed-source.
