About Pinokio

Pinokio is a launcher for open-source applications. Its main job is to install and start listed apps with one click, so users do not need to set up each tool by hand. The homepage shows app pages with update posts from the people who maintain each app.

The homepage describes two apps. Captionz is a batch image captioning tool that runs through Pinokio. It uses local Ollama vision models, or a bundled llama.cpp server, and writes each caption to a text file next to its image. MiniMax H3 Studio is a video generation app. Its update post describes an optional, experimental Spectrum setting that the author reported shortened render times in one test on a single system. The post says results vary by workload and that Spectrum can affect motion and speech. The homepage does not state pricing, and this entry does not infer it.

Pinokio FAQ

Does Captionz need Ollama?
Not always. Captionz can use Ollama with at least one vision model running on the machine or on the network. It can also use the llama.cpp backend, which is selected in the UI.
Where does Captionz save its captions?
Captions are written next to each image as a text file with the same name and a .txt extension, such as image.txt.
Can Captionz be used from code?
Captionz has no HTTP API of its own. It provides command line commands and a Python import of its core, and the Gradio UI exposes an API while it is running.
