About Reciprocal Net

Reciprocal Net is a distributed crystallography network funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation as part of the National Science Digital Library project. It aggregates molecular structure data from a network of participating crystallography laboratories into a searchable collection, including its award-winning Common Molecules Collection. The platform is still under active development, with 18 institutional partners currently contributing data.

Users can search the collection to access molecular structure information, with much of the dataset available to the general public alongside research-focused resources for professional crystallographers. The network is designed to serve three core audiences: research crystallographers who can store and access specialized molecular structure data, students studying crystallography or related sciences, and members of the general public interested in exploring molecular structures.

Key features

  • Searchable collection of common molecular structures
