About ScreenStream

ScreenStream is an open-source Android app that streams the device screen and, in some modes, audio so it can be viewed from another device. It offers three modes. Local mode uses MJPEG over a built-in HTTP server, can be viewed in a web browser, and works on a local network without internet, with an optional 4–6 digit PIN and no encryption. Global mode uses WebRTC, requires internet, relies on a public signaling service at screenstream.io, and is available only in the Google Play version. RTSP mode works with compatible RTSP clients, servers, or players and supports H.264/H.265 video.

The Google Play version supports all three modes and includes ads. F-Droid versions are ad-free and support only Local and RTSP modes. The app uses Android's MediaProjection API and requires Android 7.0 or higher. Streaming quality and latency depend on the selected mode, device performance, and network conditions. Streaming over mobile data can use a large amount of data.
