About slickstack

SlickStack is a free Bash script that automates WordPress provisioning on an Nginx-based LEMP stack. It runs on supported Ubuntu LTS releases without external provisioning dependencies such as Python or Docker, and uses scheduled cron jobs connected to its GitHub repository plus bundled scripts in /var/www for management.

It is designed for one primary domain on a KVM cloud server with at least 1GB of RAM, and is HTTPS-only with HSTS enabled by default. It does not support multiple domains on one server, plain HTTP sites, server clustering, or load balancing, and has no built-in interface.

Key features

  • Automates WordPress provisioning on Nginx LEMP stack using Bash
  • Runs scheduled cron jobs that sync maintenance from GitHub repo
  • Manages server through bundled scripts in /var/www directory
  • Supports production, staging, and development MySQL databases locally
  • Enforces HTTPS-only with HSTS enabled by default
  • Allows switching to Let's Encrypt via ss-config settings
Best for: Administrators running a single WordPress site on a KVM Ubuntu server who work from the command line.
Good for
  • Written purely in Bash with no third-party provisioning dependencies
  • Does not require Python or Docker runtimes
  • Scheduled cron jobs reduce routine hands-on management
Watch out for
  • Limited to one primary domain per server with no multi-tenancy
  • No built-in UI and plain HTTP sites are not supported
  • Ubuntu 26.04 is not supported; 18.04 and 20.04 need Pro or ESM
