About toot
toot is a command-line tool, with a text-based interface component, for interacting with Mastodon instances from a terminal. It is written in Python and released under the GPLv3 license. Its listed capabilities cover posting, replying to and deleting statuses, uploading media with spoiler text and sensitive content flags, searching statuses, accounts, and hashtags, following, muting, and blocking accounts, and switching between multiple authenticated Mastodon accounts.
The terminal user interface (toot tui) is no longer being developed. The project's documentation recommends tooi, which it describes as a more fully featured Mastodon TUI. Installation instructions are published at toot.bezdomni.net.
