About Tribou

Tribuo is a machine learning library written in Java. It provides tools for classification, regression, clustering, model development and related tasks, and offers a unified interface to third-party ML libraries such as XGBoost and liblinear. Interfaces to native code let models trained by Python libraries like scikit-learn and PyTorch be deployed in a Java program, and ONNX is supported as a model exchange format so models from other packages and languages can be used alongside Tribuo-trained models.

The library is licensed under Apache 2.0 and can be obtained from GitHub, Maven or Gradle; the homepage shows version 4.3.2. Models, datasets and evaluations carry provenance recording the parameters, transformations and files used to create them, and models are strongly typed, including those loaded from disk.

Key features

  • Classification, regression, clustering, anomaly detection and multi-label classification
  • Unified interface to third-party libraries including XGBoost and liblinear
  • Provenance for models, datasets and evaluations, allowing verbatim rebuilds
  • Strongly typed models, datasets and evaluations, including models loaded from disk
  • ONNX support for importing and exporting models
  • Native code interfaces to run scikit-learn and PyTorch models in Java
Best for: Java developers who want to train, evaluate and deploy machine learning models inside Java applications, including alongside models built in Python.
Good for
  • Apache 2.0 licensed and installable via Maven, Gradle or cloned from GitHub
  • Provenance data allows models to be rebuilt verbatim and evaluations to track their inputs
  • Interoperates with native libraries and Python-trained models through ONNX and native interfaces
