Usage Tracker (Claude Usage Tracker) is a browser extension for monitoring how much of a Claude.ai usage quota remains. It estimates token consumption across conversations by counting content from uploaded files, project knowledge files and custom instructions, personal preferences, full message history including tool results, and system prompts for enabled tools such as analysis and artifacts. Token counting is done either through Anthropic's API when the user supplies a key, or with gpt-tokenizer otherwise.
The extension covers most MCPs and integrations, but cannot track web search results because the full results are not exposed in conversation history, and cannot track research activity, which largely happens on the backend. It is distributed for Chrome, Firefox and as a desktop client. The extension fetches an organization ID from claude.ai to synchronize usage data across devices using Firebase; details are in the repository's privacy policy.
