About Yaak

Yaak is a local-first API client that stores requests on the user's machine and versions them with Git. It provides a desktop app for Mac, Windows, and Linux and a CLI that works in the same workspace.

It supports HTTP, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket, and SSE, with request chaining without scripts, inspection of redirects and headers, plugins, and imports from Postman, Insomnia, OpenAPI, curl, and Bruno collections. Collaboration uses YAML files and existing Git workflows and provider permissions, with optional encryption for secrets. Team seat management uses per-seat licenses with OpenID Connect and SCIM.

Key features

  • Send HTTP, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket, and SSE requests
  • Chain requests and reuse values without writing scripts
  • Store each request, folder, and environment as YAML
  • Branch, commit, and diff from built-in Git interface
  • Enable optional encryption to share secrets
  • Import from Postman, Insomnia, OpenAPI, curl, and Bruno
Best for: Developers who want to keep API requests on their own machines and collaborate through Git.
Good for
  • No account required and no automatic cloud sync for desktop use
  • Desktop app sends API requests directly to user servers with stated zero telemetry
  • Collaboration reuses existing Git workflows and provider permissions
