About Custom Dark Mode

Custom Dark Mode is a browser extension that applies user-adjusted dark styles to websites. It is controlled from a toolbar popup with an on/off toggle, color sliders and pickers for elements such as body background, font and header, opacity adjustment for HTML elements, and buttons to add or remove the current domain from a whitelist. Settings auto-save in the popup. The extension defaults to off after install, does not display correctly on some websites, has no viewable whitelist table, and needs a separate add-on to darken the new tab page.

Custom Dark Mode FAQ

How do I turn dark mode on or off?
Open the toolbar popup and click the big torch button at the top center. It shows dark grey combined with yellow when active. The default state is OFF after install.
How do I exclude a website from dark mode?
In the toolbar popup, press the (+) button to add the domain to the whitelist and the (-) button to remove it. The current version has no viewable whitelist table.
Are color changes saved automatically?
Yes, changes made with the sliders and color pickers auto-save to memory. A reset button at the top right restores factory defaults, and that operation is irreversible.
