Cyber Chef
CyberChef is a web app for encryption, encoding, compression, and data analysis.

About Cyber Chef
CyberChef is an open-source web app for carrying out data operations in a browser. It covers simple encoding such as XOR and Base64, encryption including AES, DES and Blowfish, binary and hex dumps, compression and decompression, hashes and checksums, IPv6 and X.509 parsing, and character encoding changes. It is designed so both technical and non-technical analysts can manipulate data without dealing with complex tools or algorithms.
Work is organised through a recipe: operations are dragged from a categorised or searchable list into a recipe area, where arguments and options are set, and any number of operations can be chained. Users can paste, type or drag in text or files. CyberChef can be used on its official website, or run locally with Docker or built from source with Node.js v24. The project does not state pricing, and building large recipes may require increasing Node.js heap size to avoid out-of-memory errors.
Key features
- Encoding operations including XOR and Base64
- Encryption with AES, DES and Blowfish
- Compression and decompression of data
- Hashing and checksum calculation
- IPv6 and X.509 parsing
- Recipe builder for chaining and configuring multiple operations
- Runs in a web browser and can also be hosted locally with Docker
- Chainable recipe builder with searchable, categorised operations
- Open source, with a documented build and test workflow
- Building from source requires Node.js v24 and npm
- Large recipes can hit out-of-memory errors unless Node's heap size is increased
- No pricing information is stated in the source
