About FragM

FragM is an open-source project derived from Mikael Hvidtfeldt Christensen's Fragmentarium, compiling features and fixes contributed by FractalForums users since 2013 for creating and viewing graphics. It includes a Video Dialog to create videos from a folder of images when ffmpeg or mencoder is installed, and provides pre-built packages for Debian, SuSE Leap and Windows.

The Examples folder and user-contributed subfolders are maintained as submodules, so cloning requires --recurse-submodules and GitHub-generated source archives do not include the example files. Building on Ubuntu Linux requires CMake, Qt5 components, OpenEXR, GLM and related packages.

Key features

  • Compiles Fragmentarium features and fixes contributed since 2013
  • Creates videos from image folder via Video Dialog with ffmpeg or mencoder
  • Provides pre-built packages for Debian, SuSE Leap and Windows
  • Supplies example fragments through separate submodule repository
  • Builds with CMake with user or system install prefix
  • Supports OpenEXR build option and Qt5 dependencies
Best for: Linux users comfortable with Git submodules and building from source who work with Fragmentarium fragments.
