Heads
Heads provides a minimal Linux boot environment running as a coreboot or LinuxBoot ROM payload for laptops, workstations, and servers.

About Heads
Heads is a minimal Linux that runs as a coreboot or LinuxBoot ROM payload for laptops, workstations and servers. It tries to use free software on the boot path, move the root of trust into hardware or the ROM bootblock, and measure and attest firmware while measuring and verifying filesystems.
It is a work in progress and is not ready for non-technical users. Installation requires disassembly, external SPI flash programmers, and carries risk of hardware destruction.
Key features
- Runs as coreboot or LinuxBoot ROM payload
- Measures and attests firmware state
- Measures and verifies filesystems
- Supports TOTP/HOTP attestation and GPG boot signing
- Uses TPM measured boot with PCR assignments and sealing policies
- Builds inside versioned Docker image with provided wrappers
- Open source and uses free software on the boot path
- Builds in versioned Docker image without host QEMU or swtpm install
- Includes QEMU board targets for development and testing
- Work in progress and not yet ready for non-technical users
- Installation requires disassembly and external SPI flash programmers
- Installation carries possible risk of destruction and significant frustration
