About Omnizart

Omnizart is a Python library for automatic transcription of polyphonic music. It can transcribe pitched instrument notes, note-level vocal melody and frame-level vocal contour (F0), chord progressions, drum events, and beat positions.

It is installed via pip, Docker, or Conda from source and requires downloading checkpoints before transcription. Drum transcription works with the provided checkpoints, but training the drum model from scratch does not converge, and the library is incompatible with ARM-based macOS systems.

Key features

  • Transcribe pitched instrument notes from polyphonic audio
  • Transcribe note-level vocal melody
  • Transcribe frame-level vocal melody (F0)
  • Transcribe chord progressions from audio files
  • Transcribe percussive drum events using provided checkpoints
  • Transcribe beat positions from music
Best for: Researchers and Python users transcribing vocals, instruments, chords, drums, and beats.
Good for
  • Open source with MIT license
  • Installable via pip, Docker, or Conda from source
  • Includes pre-trained checkpoints for transcription
Watch out for
