About Translate Shell
Translate Shell (formerly Google Translate CLI) is an open-source command-line translator. It runs in the terminal and uses Google Translate by default, with support for Bing Translator, Yandex.Translate, and Apertium.
You can translate words, phrases, and sentences directly from the command line. By default it shows translations with detailed explanations, and a brief mode shows only the most relevant translation. It can also run as an interactive shell for translating line-by-line input. Optional text-to-speech, spell checking, and right-to-left text display require additional tools. It can be installed by direct download, through a package manager, or run with Docker.
It suits people comfortable working in a terminal on POSIX-compliant systems such as GNU/Linux, macOS, or BSD, including Android via Termux and Windows via WSL, Cygwin, or MSYS2. Use requires GNU Awk, Bash or Zsh, and appropriate fonts.
