About VPN Hotspot

VPN Hotspot is an open-source Android app that shares a VPN connection over a Wi-Fi hotspot or repeater. It can be used to connect devices that do not support VPN directly, and to identify, monitor and block connected clients. It works with real VPNs as well as apps that use the system VPN service APIs, such as some adblock and DNS apps.

Root access is required. Certain features, such as reading and writing the system Wi-Fi hotspot configuration, require installation as a system app under /system/priv-app.

VPN Hotspot FAQ

Does this app require root?
Yes, root access is required.
What persistent changes can the app make?
System Wi-Fi hotspot edits, the tether_offload_disabled setting, and the supplicant persistent group persist. Routing, firewall, addresses, and daemon state are cleaned up when stopped, cleaned, or on reboot.
Why does the repeater fail to create a group or shut down?
The selected Wi-Fi channel may be unsupported by the device or unavailable due to a nearby Wi-Fi Direct device. Setting channel to 0 lets the device pick a channel automatically.
