About yt-neuter

yt-neuter is an open-source uBlock Origin filter list for blocking or hiding unwanted elements of the YouTube interface. The repository ships an aggressive main list, a less aggressive SponsorBlock sub-list that targets shopping, merch, paid comments, membership prompts, tickets, generic popups and brand features, and a separate noview list that hides force-pushed low-view videos. It also includes userscripts that change YouTube behaviour and appearance, and scriptlets for uBlock Origin to block or replace elements. Using it requires a filter-capable blocker such as uBlock Origin; filters are installed by subscribing to the filter URLs from GitHub or a serverless redirect.

Key features

  • Aggressive uBlock filter list that hides unwanted YouTube interface elements
  • Less aggressive SponsorBlock sub-list blocks merch, memberships, tickets and brand features
  • noview list hides force-pushed low-view videos
  • Userscripts for autoplay, subscribe styling, quality icons, titles and trailers
  • Scriptlets for uBlock Origin to block or replace elements
  • Filter URLs available from GitHub or a serverless redirect
Best for: YouTube viewers who already use a filter-capable content blocker and want finer control over which site elements are hidden.
Good for
  • Open source under the Unlicense
  • Three separate lists let users choose how aggressive the blocking is
  • Userscripts cover changes that filter lists alone cannot make
Watch out for
  • The main filter list is described as aggressive
  • The userscript that forces more grid elements per row is noted as broken due to YouTube changes
  • It depends on a separate filter-capable blocker such as uBlock Origin
