About ANGRYsearch
ANGRYsearch is an open-source file search tool for Linux that displays matching files as you type, using a locally stored index. It offers lite and full display modes and fast, slow substring, and regex search modes, and opens files with xdg-open based on mimetype.
Indexing takes time and disk space, with a stated example of about 2 minutes for about 1 million files and about a 200MB database, and full mode crawling takes roughly twice as long as lite mode. Running as root is not recommended.
Key features
- Displays matching files as you type from local index

- Full mode crawling takes about twice as long due to extra stats calls
- Initial index can take time and disk space
- Fast mode does not find substrings; regex mode is slowest and searches only filenames
