About Blockcore

Blockcore Wallet is an open source, non-custodial wallet that runs in the browser. It handles wallet management, account management, identity management, and signing. Built on web technology, it also works as a Progressive Web App and in native mobile and desktop forms, according to the project's homepage.

The wallet can have several active wallets at once, and each wallet can hold one or more accounts, including accounts on different blockchains and networks. It also supports payment requests, decentralized blockchain API discovery, Nostr, and multiple languages with left-to-right and right-to-left layouts. Accounts can be added in Normal or Quick mode. Normal mode retrieves full transaction history and calculates the balance locally, while Quick mode retrieves only current balance information from indexer APIs. The project offers separate builds named Blockcore, CoinVault, and Free City Wallet, each with different supported chains and features. The project describes the software as experimental and says users hold their own keys.

Blockcore FAQ

What is the difference between Normal and Quick modes?
Normal mode retrieves all transaction history for the wallet and calculates the balance locally. Quick mode retrieves only the current balance from indexer APIs and queries those APIs when sending transactions, so the wallet does not need to download all data.
What happens if I lose my secret recovery phrase?
The project states that it holds no user keys and cannot restore access or help recover funds if the secret recovery phrase is lost. Users are advised to back up the phrase.
