Gonic
Gonic streams music through a server implementing the Subsonic API as free software.

About Gonic
Gonic is a free, open-source music streaming server written in Go. It implements the Subsonic API, so it can serve a personal music library to Subsonic-compatible client apps. The project's installation guide covers running it from source, with Docker, with systemd, or on other setups. The default login is admin/admin, and the password can be changed from the web interface.
Gonic browses music by folder or by audio tags, and it can transcode audio on the fly with caching. Transcoding requires ffmpeg. Its jukebox mode plays audio on the server and needs mpv. Scrobbling to Last.fm and ListenBrainz and fetching artist information from the Last.fm API send data to external services. Pricing is not stated in the source.
Key features
- Browses music by folder while keeping the full folder tree intact
- Browses by audio tags using TagLib, with support for mp3, opus, flac, and wav
- On-the-fly audio transcoding with caching, which requires ffmpeg
- Subsonic jukebox mode for gapless playback on the server
- Multiple users, each with their own transcoding preferences and playlists
- Web interface for setting up Last.fm, managing users, and starting scans
- Written in Go, so it is lightweight and has ARM images for devices such as the Raspberry Pi
- Tested with many Subsonic-compatible clients, including Symfonium, Amperfy, DSub, and Sublime Music
- Supports the album-artist tag, which keeps compilation appearances out of the artist list
- Audio transcoding requires ffmpeg to be installed
- Jukebox mode depends on the mpv daemon
- In the author's test, an initial scan of about 50,000 tracks took about 10 minutes
