About Kueue
Kueue is a set of APIs and a controller for job queueing in Kubernetes. It works at the job level, deciding when a job should be admitted to start, meaning when its pods can be created, and when it should stop, meaning when its active pods should be deleted.
The project supports priority-based queueing, resource management across tenants, and built-in integrations with several job types, including BatchJob, Kubeflow training jobs, RayJob, RayCluster, JobSet, plain Pods, and Pod Groups. Some capabilities are marked as alpha in the source, such as consumable capacity for Dynamic Resource Allocation. The source does not describe pricing, and the project is open source.
Key features
- Priority-based job queueing with StrictFIFO and BestEffortFIFO strategies
- Resource flavor fungibility, fair sharing, cohorts, and preemption policies
- Built-in integrations for BatchJob, Kubeflow training jobs, RayJob, and JobSet
- Built-in Prometheus metrics and an on-demand endpoint for pending workloads
- Quota management for devices requested through Dynamic Resource Allocation
- MultiKueue multi-cluster job dispatching to search for capacity and off-load a cluster
- Open source, with the code hosted in a public GitHub repository
- Manages batch workloads and serving workloads such as Deployments in one system
- Includes built-in Prometheus metrics for monitoring system state
- Some capabilities are listed as alpha, such as consumable capacity for Dynamic Resource Allocation
