sfsu
sfsu implements Scoop as a work-in-progress project, with its name expanded as “Stupid Fast Scoop Utils.”

About sfsu
sfsu (Stupid Fast Scoop Utils) is an open source, work-in-progress Rust implementation that provides faster alternatives to most, but not all, Scoop commands for Windows package management. It is designed to operate alongside existing Scoop installations rather than replace Scoop entirely, with optional shell integration hooks for PowerShell, Bash (WSL and MSYS2), and Nushell to let users run standard Scoop commands via sfsu.
Key features
- Faster Rust-based replacements for most Scoop commands
- Optional PowerShell hook for Scoop command substitution
- Bash hook support for WSL and MSYS2 environments
- Nushell shell integration support
- Underlying sprinkles library for Scoop code interaction
- Faster execution than standard Scoop for most commands
- Maintains compatibility with existing Scoop installations
- Open source with permissive Apache-2.0 and MIT licenses
- Still work-in-progress; faster replacements not available for all Scoop commands
- Project is seeking new maintainers, as lead maintainer lacks regular Windows PC access
- Long-term goal of a full Scoop replacement is unconfirmed and may never be completed
