About What Am Ihearing
What Am Ihearing is an open-source Windows desktop client for identifying music through Shazam. It records audio from the PC and sends the raw audio to Shazam's API for song detection, so it can identify music playing on the computer rather than relying on a phone's microphone. The project is written in C# with WPF and is released under the MIT license.
The app uses Shazam's API, which has a free-tier quota of 500 requests per month. To avoid sharing that quota, the app lets users enter their own API key from RapidAPI. The default key in the public repository is a placeholder, so a version compiled from source will not work without a user-supplied key. Settings and history are saved in config.json next to the executable by default, with an option since v3.5 to store them in AppData.
