Xanmod
For Linux systems, XanMod supplies a general-purpose kernel with documented features and an APT repository.

About Xanmod
XanMod is a general-purpose Linux kernel distribution with custom settings and new features, built to provide a stable, smooth system experience. It is distributed through an official APT repository for recent 64-bit (amd64) Debian-based distributions, with generic packages intended to be compatible with any Debian or Ubuntu based distribution. The project publishes stable mainline, LTS (long term support) and real-time (PREEMPT_RT) builds, using x86-64 psABI level naming such as linux-xanmod-x64v3.
Customizations include LLVM Software Pipelining and Polyhedral (Polly) compiler work, scheduler and memory management tuning for heavy workloads, Google's Multigenerational LRU and BBRv3 TCP congestion control by default, and support for process scheduler class sched_ext. The kernel is GPLv2 licensed and can be built for any distribution or purpose. Note that current NVIDIA, OpenZFS, VirtualBox, VMware Workstation / Player and some other DKMS modules may not support the latest kernel versions, and the RT build is offered only for x64v2 and x64v3 levels.
Key features
- APT repository for 64-bit Debian-based distributions, with generic Debian/Ubuntu-compatible packages
- Kernel built with LLVM Software Pipelining, Polyhedral (Polly) and x86_64 optimizations
- Scheduler, load balancing, caching, virtual memory and CPUFreq governor tuned for heavy workloads
- Stable mainline, LTS and real-time (PREEMPT_RT) build variants
- Google's BBRv3 TCP congestion control built in as tcp_bbr, plus Multigenerational LRU by default
- x86-64 psABI level packages (v1, v2, v3) with a compatibility check script
- Generic packages are offered for compatibility with any Debian or Ubuntu based distribution
- GPLv2 licensed and can be built for any distribution or purpose
- Variants cover stable mainline, long term support and real-time kernel needs
- Current NVIDIA, OpenZFS, VirtualBox, VMware Workstation / Player and some other DKMS modules may not support the latest kernel versions
- Some builds are limited by CPU capability, such as the RT build offered only for x64v2 and x64v3
- x86-64-v4 (AVX-512) is listed as having no kernel benefit
