About Docx Editor

Docx Editor is an open-source WYSIWYG .docx editor library for React and Vue, built on a shared document engine that parses, edits and renders Word files in the browser. It aims to keep Word fidelity by preserving document structure, unsupported OOXML and embedded files when a document is saved and reopened. The engine is distributed as separate packages, including adapters for React, Vue 3 and the core engine, plus translations, font substitutes and CJK font support for PDF export.

Beyond basic editing, the library offers review and collaboration tooling, an Editor API that covers a supported subset of Word Office.js for browser or server automation, and DOCX conversion to PDF on a Node.js server or to Markdown with page references and images. Server-side use requires Node.js ^20.16.0 or >=22.3.0. Review, collaboration, the Editor API and PDF export are separate packages offered under the EigenPal Pro License, so part of the feature set sits behind commercial terms rather than the open-source license.
